• Curator's Notes 

   

  Considering raw rattan can take on a variety of forms after processing, it’s a well-loved material that has been used for ages to make furniture and weave baskets. Rattan is also lightweight, durable and flexible to work with providing artisan’s the ability to bend and shape it into intricate patterns or oblong forms. Hairu with the help of designer Rina Ono, combines these properties, traditional techniques and incorporates the perfect proportions for modern living in a series of baskets that gently cradle household belongings. They can be used to store items such as magazines, electronics, towels, throw blankets, toys and accessories.
