I am a Ceramic Boat Vessel. Shore to keep your items afloat.
We are pleased to introduce Mitani's recent exploration in ceramics with this vessel. The clay has been dug by Mitani from the ground near his studio. Similar to his wooden pieces, the artisan leaves traces of his hand in forming the piece to celebrate the natural warmth of clay. It is lightly lacquered after firing.
The artisan's fascination with boats lies in their ability to offer passengers quiet contemplation of what is available to their immediate senses as they float to their next destination. This experience is reflected by highlighting the craft and materiality of a boat in its sun-washed interior.
