I am Anagama Rectilinear Vase No. 10. Like an old building—structured, weathered, and softened over time. I carry those lines, with a quiet nature and history etched into every surface.
Like its cylindrical counterpart, Anagama Rectilinear Vase No.11 introduces a geometric presence into Iwata-san’s collection. The multifaceted, flat surfaces give it a bold, angular feel, yet there’s something almost natural about it. The ashen textures and the subtle layering of colors on its surface created from the anagama kiln feel as if moss has quietly overgrown the vase, softening its sharp lines. It reminds us of weathered old brick buildings—where the roughness of time meets the precision of geometry. This piece balances those contrasts beautifully, offering a timeless connection between the man-made and the organic.
