  I am Anagama No.5 Conical Vase. Shaped like a skewed chimney—fitting, since that’s where I came from. You could say I’ve got history baked into every curve.
  

   

• Curator's Notes 

  This Anagama Conical Vase stands out with its unique, skewed funnel shape, reminiscent of the very chimney of the anagama kiln that brought it to life. Keisuke Iwata tells us that the seashells he uses to separate pieces during the firing process create a special alchemy, resulting in discolorations. On this piece, the shell’s interaction with the kiln’s intense heat left behind beautiful orange marks, giving the vase a rich and textured surface. A true statement piece, it captures the essence of Iwata-san’s skillful blend of tradition and natural forces.
