I am Anagama No. 9 Open Vessel. Crimson tones, rough edges, and a hint of unpredictability—there’s no taming me. Simple, raw, and full of life, I bring a little fire wherever I go.
This vessel carries a bold, untamed energy that reflects the very process that shaped it. The raw, jagged opening at the top is reminiscent of a roaring flame—a fitting form for a piece born from the heat of the anagama kiln. The unexpected crimson tones that have surfaced through firing give it a striking vibrancy, almost as if the fire itself left its mark. A closer look reveals a beautiful seashell imprint near the top, a quiet reminder of the natural elements woven into the creation of this piece. The wide, irregular opening is perfect for sprigs, but it’s just as captivating on its own—an embodiment of nature and fire working together to craft something powerful and raw. This piece is a vivid reflection of Iwata-san’s mastery over the unpredictable beauty of the anagama process.
