I am a Balloon Porcelain Table Lamp. Inspired by hot air balloons I'm airy but not airheaded. On the contrary, I'm imbued with innovation and will take your world to new heights.
These handmade porcelain lamps diffuse soft, warm light, creating a sense of calm and harmony in any space. We adore the hazy, rouge-hued glow that porcelain naturally emits, complemented by the ridges and fine lines crafted by ceramic artisan Hirotaka Tobimatsu. These lines are the result of burr marks from the split mold casting process that Tobimatsu expertly employs in his designs. The off-white surfaces, intentionally left unglazed, enhance the soft illumination effect and leave a paper-like impression on the senses.
The Balloon lamp is inspired by the world renown hot air balloon competitions in Tobimatsu's hometown in Saga Prefecture. The artisan would attend the events with his father as a young child and watch the balloons alongside the riverbank at night simultaneously being lit.
