• Curator's Notes 

   

  At first glance, it seems that Pat Kim’s specially designed chair for our Starter Chair exhibition pays homage to New York’s finest bagels, but much like its namesake, this whimsical chair reveals its distinctive charm upon closer inspection. Made of American white oak, every surface of this chair has been softened and rounded for child-friendly edges. The circular backrest keeps the chair visually and physically light while also playfully engaging with the space it occupies. The flipside of the seat contains a circular depression that holds a branded leather insert.
