  I am a Chrysanthemum Incense Stand. Do I seem incensed? Well, Iʼm really quite calm. Place a stick of incense in me and Iʼll never raise a fuss.

   

• Curator's Notes 

   

  This incense stand's fine ridges and inky color make a dramatic backdrop for the fallen ash of burning incense. Its form is an abstraction of a chrysanthemum, a symbol of happiness and longevity. And indeed, when I light a stick of incense, I feel happy and rejuvenated. The smoke rises in the air, lifting spirits as it cleanses the energy of the space.
