  I am a Gold Vase. I've never been one to fit the mold. I only get bolder as I grow old.

   

• Curator's Notes 

  There's something almost archetypal about this vase. The proportions feel so perfect that it's hard to imagine changing anything. Slightly tapered at both ends with just enough opening for a small arrangement, it seems to distill a flower vase down to its purest form.
  
  Although each piece is handbuilt by Masanobu Ando and subtly unique, they all share the same remarkable balance. The gold overglaze gives the vase a sense of preciousness, yet it never feels extravagant. Instead, it quietly elevates whatever is placed inside. As the gold naturally develops a deeper patina over time, the vase becomes even more individual.
