  I am a Hagakure Chasaji Tea Scoop. By focusing my energy on the way of tea, I can transfer leaves to a teapot as stealth as a samurai in the shadows of the trees. 

   

• Curator's Notes 

  Hagakure, meaning "in the shadow of the leaves", is both an homage to natural shapes we find and a manifestation of Konishi's samurai inspiration. We love this specialty scoop even more because it epitomizes the artisan's functional artworks. It pays attention not just to the brewed tea but, to the experience with the tea leaves itself. Whether partitioning out your favorite Japanese or Chinese loose tea into a teapot or functioning as a beautiful vessel to hold the tea leaves for observation of purity and size, this scoop brings enjoyment to the meditative experience.

  • Hand hammered from a single sheet of solid brass
  • Used to transfer tea leaves from a holder to a teapot or for assessment of tea leaf quality
  • Can be used with a tea needle or ladle to help partition leaves
  • Each tea holder is individually handcrafted and inspired by the silhouette of shadows of leaves, there will be slight difference in shape and size

  • The surface of the brass has light intentional scratches for a subtle textured surface
