• Curator's Notes

   

  The latest addition to the Ihada cutlery collection is this soup spoon, designed by Oji Masanori for the renown Futagami foundry. Like the rest of the Ihada collection, the handle has a textured, faceted shape that is comfortable to hold and reminiscent of holding chopsticks. It has a nice weight, shorter length and angle but the best aspect is the charming and perfectly oval-shaped bowl.

  • Silver plated heads are antibacterial
  • Crude casted brass surface ("Ihada") handles
  • Made from lead-free brass ideal for tableware
  • Brass products gradually change their color over the course of many years due to oxidization
  • A caramel colored patina on the handles is expected to develop within 5 years
  • A russet brown color patina is expected to develop at approximately 30 years
  • Hand washing is recommended
  • Individually packaged in a brown box
  • Includes a small polishing cloth that can be occasionally used to polish the piece back to it's original luster
