I am an Ikebana Bowl. You've got to let it grow.
I love the idea of making flowers come alive through the art of ikebana flower arranging and this piece adds to the sculptural results. This footed bowl is a classical shape but not symmetrical emphasizing the irregularities that occur through the process of firing. The approach of embracing the serendipitous in pottery making that Masanobu Ando has developed in his works is also found in the natural universe around us, making the piece evermore poetic in all its imperfections.
