I am a Large Salad Bowl. When it comes to wood bowls, the bigger the better.
Unlike with ceramics, you can't lift the sides of a wood bowl to your desired height so a big bowl like this needs to be strategically cut and measured from the perfect source of cherry wood. Ryuji Mitani uses Japanese mountain cherry wood for this bowl and places the special wood grain of the tree in just the right places to create the luxuriously rich, textured bowl. The grooves produced by the tools give the piece a unique textured surface, perceptible by touch and sight. The large size provides an anchor point on a coffee table or can be used as a serving bowl for fruits and salads.
