I am a Low Hakuboku Bowl. Black as night on my shell, inside, brushstrokes of off-white dwell. A painter's touch for your salads’ delight, everyday elegance in every bite.
"Hakuboku" is a hallmark of Ryuji Mitani’s lacquer artistry. The contrast between the black exterior and white urushi lacquer interior accentuates the food it holds. The black base layer subtly visible inside and the solid black exterior create a sense of depth and solidity, complemented by the smooth, brushed surfaces. This particular size and shape belong to Mitani's lower-style Hakuboku bowls, making it ideal for serving medium-sized portions of everyday salads, pastas and desserts.
