I am Anagama No.7 Stretched Neck Vase. Stiff-necked in the best way, I stand tall, shaped by fire and time. A glowing ember from the kiln lingers on my surface, a quiet reminder that even the stillest forms hold traces of movement.
There’s something about the asymmetry of this vase that feels just right. The long, fluted neck feels shaped with a natural ease, creating a dynamic balance that complements the organic shapes of flowers. And then there’s the mark left behind from the shell in the wood-fired kiln—a soft, glowing orange orb, like a quiet ember frozen in time. It’s these unpredictable details that make Iwata-san's anagama-fired pieces so compelling. Every vase tells its own story, shaped by fire, ash, and air, yet always leaving space for something new to take root.
