  I am an Ori Bowl. Finely folded sides like an origami sculpture, but I promise I’m more useful. 

   

• Curator's Notes 

   

  The octagonal Ori bowl shines as brightly as a star. Each piece is cast in pure tin by skilled workers in Takaoka city, an area famous in Japan for its production of metal objects. I love the contrast of tin’s durability with the delicate shape of the bowl and the way the pebbled texture plays against the stark facets. Tin has natural antimicrobial properties and is resistant to tarnishing. It also is great for keeping dishes chilled—just place the bowl in the fridge or freezer for a few moments before serving. The three sizes nest together or can be arranged side by side upon the table.

  • Chill the bowl in the refrigerator or freezer before serving to help keep its contents cold and fresh
