I am a Silver Hanging Sculpture Vase with Edge. With a silver overglaze that ages like fine wine, I'll showcase an array of dynamic colors over time. Hang me up with a flower or two, and bring a touch of wonder to your world.
The slab-based construction of this hanging sculpture vase is a departure from the ordinary vase. Masanobu Ando's creation celebrates both his practice of flower arrangement and his studies in contemporary sculpture. He builds the piece from blocks of clay without the use of a potter's wheel, and applies the glaze by hand for a natural, inconsistent texture. The resulting piece is one-of-a-kind. His signature silver glaze has the shine of metal, but the comforting feeling of clay. Over time, it will oxidize, developing a darkened patina for an antique appearance, as treasured as a piece in a museum. The vase can stand sculpturally or hang on a wall.
