I am a Silver Vessel. Within my handmade sides your objects nestle.
The handmade nature of ceramicist Masanobu Ando's work really shines in this silver-glazed vessel. Starting from smooth slabs of clay, Ando-san molds and shapes the raw material by hand until achieving its final form. The slightly off-kilter shape and variations in texture have the human touch that's missing from a perfect cylinder. The silver glaze, striking from the start, gains new dimension as it develops a natural patina with use. The unconventional shape gives the piece flexibility in its function - it makes an interesting vase, attractive tool holder, or even an extra-special large drinking vessel.
