• Curator's Notes

  In New York, unfortunately bathrooms are usually the sacrificial lamb for the common good of a home’s square footage. We were finding that as much as some of our local clients loved the original hinoki bath mat, it just didn’t fit into their cramped, urban sized bathrooms. That’s how this smaller version came to exist. Still the same mystifying properties of hinoki wood and impeccable craftsmanship, just a smaller square sized dimension that can fit a little easier into small spaces.

   

  Hinoki wood has a natural resin content, which makes it mold and mildew resistant and the ideal species of wood for the production of bathroom products. This wood bath mat brings the essence of nature into the home, reminiscent of Japanese bathhouses. Bare feet can rest comfortably on the mat’s naturally smooth, non-slip surface while water drains through the slats and glides down the mat’s angled edges.
