What makes this collaboration between Artek and Hender Scheme so wonderful is how much of each brand you can see in the finished piece. Aalto's iconic bent birch legs and simple proportions remain, while Hender Scheme brings its expertise in leatherwork, covering the seat and giving each leg its own little leather shoe.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eRyo Kashiwazaki told us that the leather seat alone didn't feel quite complete, which led him to revisit the furniture shoes he had developed for an earlier \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/shop.nalatanalata.com\/products\/toddler-chair?_pos=13\u0026amp;_sid=e16e574f6\u0026amp;_ss=r\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"\u003echildren's chair\u003c\/a\u003e. It's such a charming detail, but also a practical one, protecting the feet without those little pads that inevitably collect dust or fall off. The leather adds a completely different character to the stool, whether it's used for sitting or as a small side table.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eI think what makes this collaboration particularly successful is that neither design identity overwhelms the other. The stool remains unmistakably Aalto, yet the leather feels so natural to its form that it's difficult to imagine it any other way.
