I am a pair of Tagaya Chopsticks. I've been around for three millenia, but that doesn't mean I'm a stick in the mud. My minimal components makes me a truly modern design.
Although a pair of chopsticks appears to be the simplest utensil, we think it's one of the most sophisticated designs in human history. Its weight and length fits easily in one's hand to allow for agile movements on a plate or in a pan, and its very minimal construction lends to a variety of finishes and shapes. We kept our line of chopsticks simple to highlight the dark warm tone and texture of the Tagaya wood they were made from - otherwise known as ironwood. This particular wood is high density and very durable. The chunkier, rounded top shaft feels comfortable between our fingers and tapers to an end that is substantial yet still precise.
This 8.8" length is ideal for adults. We have also designed an 8" size, found here, that is easier to use for older children, children in their early teens or those with smaller hands.
