I am a Toothpick Container. I keep things tidy, one point at a time.
There’s a small satisfaction in seeing even the most ordinary object treated with care. This toothpick container is made for standard American-sized toothpicks, but that’s where its familiarity ends. The black walnut body is finished with coats of urushi lacquer, giving it a rich, dark sheen that deepens the grain and adds a layer of protection against humidity, making it suitable even for the bathroom.
I love the restrained refinement of it. The lacquer is so delicate you can still feel the texture of the wood beneath, and the color sits somewhere between espresso and black. It’s a small object that celebrates the value of craftsmanship in the everyday.
