• Curator's Notes 

  Finding the perfect platter for each component of the dish is a key element of traditional Japanese cuisine, and I have no doubts that this Confectionary Platter will become The One for many wagashi desserts. In my mind, I see it holding a beautiful yomogi daifuku mochi. The neutral color of the platter will complement both the outer green mochi layer and the red bean filling, while the rich textures of the platter will beautifully contrast the mochi's smoothness.

  • Do not soak urushi lacquered pieces in water for prolonged periods
  • Wash with a soft sponge and mild dish soap. Rinse with warm water
  • Wipe with a cloth and dry well

  • Urushi lacquer will patina and change in texture and color with time and use
