  Ryuji Mitani has become known for his unique way of applying lacquer (urushi). The brushstrokes are visible leaving a one-of-a-kind surface. This piece has a thick base and is quite shallow making it perfect for a small individual portion of bisque or oatmeal.

  • Features Ryuji Mitani's signature on the bottom of the plate
  • Bottom center surface of bowl is lacquered black
  • Do not soak urushi lacquered pieces in water for prolonged periods
  • Wash with a soft sponge and mild dish soap. Rinse with warm water
  • Wipe with a cloth and dry well
  • Each piece is unique and will have variations
  • Urushi lacquer will patina and change in texture and color with time and use
  • Do not place in dishwasher
  • Do not microwave
