I am a Red Urushi Wood Cup. When the coffee's brewing I get a little glow. That cup of Joe always gets me red hot.
This year we introduce two lacquered versions of our beloved Wood Cup. In addition to the Black Urushi version, we add Red and Brown to the collection. The colours are inspired by traditional Japanese lacquerware or urushi that is applied in multiple layers to achieve smooth finishes. The process is done slowly and thoroughly to allow absorption between coats to enhance the grain, letting the raw material be the main attraction and to offer extra layers of protection from heat, ice, acid, detergent and other environmental factors. Each cup is made individually from a solid piece of wood and precisely turned into the shape of an eight ounce paper coffee cup with a rolled rim and carved bottom.
