• Curator's Notes 

   

  Ryuji Mitani’s idea for this incense case came from an obsession with being able to burn incense anywhere he went. The container can hold multiple short incense sticks and is equipped with a brass insert stand in the cap that doubles as an ash catcher. The continuous grain pattern across the container and cap reveals that this entire holder was created from a single piece of wood.
