For four generations the close-knit, family-run candle maker Daiyo has been perfecting their craft, employing the same traditional techniques of making candles by hand since 1914. Today, the workshop is led by Satoshi Onishi, grandson of the original founder but, one can find family members including Satoshi's grandmother still making candles to this day. The atelier uses sustainable plant wax drawn from local rice and sumac, which provides a soft and warm glow that burns clean and odorless. Whether lighting intimate dinners with friends or quiet moments of meditation, Daiyo candles provide the perfect mood to contemplate our emotional connection to fire and its capacity to bring us all together.
