In communion with glass

At the heart of Sugahara’s studio sits a large circular kiln, around which glass blowers set about their craft. Within its busy atmosphere of experimentation and collaboration, the studio’s craftsmen are encouraged to play and develop a highly attuned relationship with glass while also taking the lead on new designs. Specializing in traditional Japanese hand-blowing techniques since 1932, Sugahara creates pieces that are rich in tone while remaining practical and accessible to celebrate glass in any context.
