I am a Tea Ceremony Table. The best memories are made when gathered around me.
It can be difficult to find suitable furniture for apartment living, particularly kitchen tables – smaller tables can feel flimsy and temporary, but I’ve found that the better made ones are often too large. This table by Ibazen contains no compromise. Modeled after the traditional Japanese Chabudai, a tatami table around which families would gather for meals, this modern version also folds when not in use, to save space. The oak surface has been burnished by hand with fuki-urushi lacquer to a lustrous finish that is both durable and beautiful. The scale is ideal for tea ceremonies and makes sitting around it feel intimate and special.
