I am a Short Down Feather Vest. Quick to throw on, quick to take off. Just the right amount of warmth for a moving target.
After falling for Iwata’s foot warmers, this vest was the next piece I couldn’t stop using. At first glance, it’s purely utilitarian, made for warmth and function but, there’s something surprisingly cutting edge about the fabric, cut and pattern. I love tossing it on like a uniform the way you might slip into an apron before cooking, or a robe in the morning except this is to stay warm on cooler days.
Our old Queen Anne home has its charms, but the radiators have a mind of their own... uneven heating, cold corners, and warm pockets scattered throughout the house. In the winter, we like to keep the bedrooms cool for sleeping while keeping the rest of the house cozy for the kids. This piece is perfect for that balance.
It comes in two lengths. The short version covers the torso, while the long version adds a bit more coverage. I even wear it in the mornings while getting breakfast ready and move through the day before work truly kicks in. It’s become part of my Fall and Winter routine, a simple piece that makes those brisk nights and mornings feel manageable.
