I am a Large Iron Plate. No amount of pumping iron can match my strength. There is nothing I can't handle on my wide base.
For our latest in-house product, we wanted an object that can hold its own while getting consistent use in one of our daily rituals, burning incense and palo santo. The idea was to create a plate with a simple and low profile — standing only on three small feet — to let the craftsmanship shine. Hand-casted and hand-lacquered, this plate reflects its material and production process on its surface. While the urushi lacquer helps to prevent rusting and discoloration, we also worked closely with the artisans to develop a finish that combines green tea and sumi ink for a clean yet rich palate well-suited to the weight of this plate. A smaller version of the plate can be found here.
