  I am a Samue Loungewear Set. They say black goes with everything. I prefer to think I pair best with slower mornings, evening rituals, and nowhere urgent to be.

   

• Curator's Notes

  The Samue Loungewear Set is loosely based on traditional Japanese workwear historically worn by Zen monks during daily tasks and meditation. Here, Nezen reinterprets the form as contemporary loungewear, developed in consultation with their spiritual guide, Tosei Shinabe.

  Made from 100% cotton with a lightweight textured weave, the fabric feels airy and breathable against the body, especially in warmer months. The shape is simple and unrestrictive, designed around ease of movement rather than structure or formality.

  What we especially appreciate is the versatility of the pieces. The black top and pants can be worn together as a complete set, or separately throughout the day as sleepwear, around the home, or casually outside. Worn individually, they pair easily with other clothing, and the loose shape allows the jacket to layer comfortably over a variety of tops and sweaters. There’s a practicality to it that feels very connected to the overall philosophy of Nezen itself.
