• Curator's Notes 

   

  This small stool looks like a children's stool but it's actually the perfect adult sized stool height for tying on shoes! Provides a comfortable angle to get at those shoelaces making this little stool very appropriate for a foyer or mudroom. It is a shorter version of the beloved SH48 Stool and offers the same attention to detail. Handcrafted in the Hokkaido region of Japan, the stool exemplifies the traditional Japanese technique of "fuki-urushi". By repeatedly applying lacquer and then wiping it off, the appearance of a saturated wood grain is achieved. A thoughtful addition of a handle makes carrying a breeze. The stool also has subtle marks of the maker’s carving tools that add to its charm and handcrafted appeal.
