I am Camel Hair Mattress Pad. I come from what the desert lets go. Filled with naturally shed camel hair, I hold warmth, release what I don’t need, and settle the body through the night.

The Camel Hair Mattress Pad is the layer of the futon system the body rests on directly, placed above the Futon Floor Pad and beneath the duvet blanket. It is also the piece that defines much of how the overall setup feels. What’s especially nice about it is that it avoids extremes. It doesn’t feel overly soft or overly firm, but instead stable, supportive, and remarkably consistent night after night.
Camel hair is what makes much of that experience possible, particularly in how it regulates temperature and moisture. Scientifically tested for moisture release, camel hair was shown to absorb and release significantly more moisture than sheep’s wool under the same conditions, helping the surface remain dry and comfortable throughout the night.
What makes camel hair especially suited to bedding is its ability to adapt. It stays cool in warmer conditions, warm without overheating in colder ones, and maintains a dryness that changes how the body feels while resting.
Unlike many animal fibers, camel hair is collected during the camel’s natural shedding season rather than through shearing, making it a more humane and renewable material. Resilient, breathable, and exceptionally well suited to sleep, it remains central to Iwata’s approach to bedding.
The pad is available in Japanese futon sizes (Single and Semi-Double) and US standard mattress sizes (Full, Queen, King, Cal King) to be used as a mattress topper on existing beds to change the feel of a mattress without replacing it entirely.Camel Mattress Pad was curated by Stevenson Aung
