Momoko Otani has had a lifelong connection with ceramics as she hails from a family of potters. She currently resides in a home in the mountains of Shigaraki with her daughters and husband, Tetsuya Otani, who is also a ceramicist. Their home acts as a showroom and studio where the duo shares a kiln and workspace. Momoko’s works utilize iron-rich local clay treated with slip and distinct applications like hand painting and sgrafitto.
