In 2008, Tetsuya Otani created a pottery studio with his wife Momoko Otani that they use as a joint space to create their separate collections. The studio is located in Shigaraki, one of the most historic pottery cities in Japan. Tetsuya’s porcelain wares are made using a wheel-throwing process. Although there is a trademark precision to his works, they simultaneously possess the qualities of handmade objects achieved primarily through smooth surfaces, soft edges, and the use of a warm white glaze.
