Casting new forms in an ironclad tradition
With a history that spans three generations since the Meiji period, Kamasada brings a fresh and modern take to traditional ironware. Drawing from the rich resources of its home in Iwate Prefecture, the family-run foundry uses Nambu-tetsu techniques to produce household goods that are rust-resistant, well-insulated and built to last. Under the helm of master craftsman Nobuho Miya, who set his own path in contemporary art and design before returning to the family business, the foundry stands out for its modern forms and expressions in a craft steeped in tradition. Combining contemporary design sensibilities with Nambu-tetsu craftsmanship, Kamasada provides housewares and kitchen supplies that meet the needs of contemporary homes and persist through future generations.
