Established in 1969, the renowned furniture company looks to the tradition of Japanese wood joinery as the basis for creating enduring designs. Using locally sourced wood in the Tokushima region — long used for traditional architecture and decor — the company keeps its materials relatively raw and finishes by hand to enhance the natural expressions of the wood. Miyazaki Chair Factory partners with Japanese and international furniture designers to support their vision, including Makoto Koizumi. By approaching development with a workshop-style system, Miyazaki creates a hands-on, collaborative environment between the designers and craftsmen that ensures the integrity of each design.
